All meals included throughout your stay

  • All the meals are included in your package price and is prepared by our chef on a daily basis.

  • Early breakfast – 04h30 to 05h00

  • Bush breakfast – 08h00 – 09h30

  • Lunch – 12h30 – 14h00

  • Dinner – 19h00 – 21h00

  • Times for meals may change depending on hunting conditions and group preference.

  • There will be snack and beverages before Dinner where this will give you an opportunity to share stories and relive the excitement with your fellow hunters.

Special Dietary Needs

We will accommodate most dietary requirements /restrictions but ask that you please notify us at least 3 weeks before your arrival so that we can prepare accordingly.

Alcohol Policy

Beer, spirits and wine are all available at the lodge and are not included in the package price, these prices are available on the pricing page.

Additional Information

  • Please bring a gun that you feel comfortable with.

  • Make sure your boots are comfortable as it will not be pleasant should you need to walk with sore feet.

  • Some hunts are tough so do some walking at home.

  • Once you are settled your PH will check your ability to shoot and the zero on your weapon which will give him an indication on how close he will need to get you to the trophy you shoot. This will also ensure that your bow or gun is still on point after your trip.

Special Medical Needs and Health Considerations

  • Should you have any allergies or illnesses or any medical needs that are important and will need medical attention please do mention this to us or to you PH.

  • Prescription medication (bring more than you need)

  • Sunscreen (SPF 50+)

  • Insect repellant (DEET-based)

  • Lip balm with SPF

  • Personal first aid kit

  • Hand sanitizer and wet wipes

Important Required Documents

  • Valid U.S. passport (no visa necessary for South Africa)

  • CBP Form 4457 — signed and stamped by U.S. Customs before departure

  • Firearms permit and letter of invitation from your PH

  • Travel insurance, medical insurance, and trip cancellation insurance documents

  • Copies of all documents stored separately

Clothing, Footwear, Gear and Equipment

  • 2 pairs of camouflage hunting pants

  • 2 long sleeve camouflage tee shirts

  • 2 long sleeve button camouflage shirts

  • 1 hoodie

  • 1 jacket or coat

  • Wide-brim hat for sun protection

  • Warm beanie for cold mornings

  • Comfortable camp clothes for evenings at the lodge

  • Underwear and socks

  • We provide daily laundry service at the lodge — pack light!

  • Quality hunting boots — broken in before your trip (this is critical!)

  • Lightweight camp shoes or sandals for the lodge

  • Light rain gear (packable jacket or poncho)

  • Binoculars (8x42 or 10x42 recommended)

  • Rangefinder

  • Rifle cleaning kit and spare ammunition (60 rounds max per gun)

  • Shooting sticks (we provide these, but you may bring your own)

  • Headlamp with spare batteries

  • Daypack for field carry

  • Camera and extra memory cards

Travel Documents and Permits

  • We at Ngwenkala Safaris will assist and provide you with all the information that you need to help you make your safari enjoyable and as smooth as possible.

  • We will also assist with the step by step processes which include from flights to permits to tipping.

  • We are contactable at any time to answer any additional questions you may have.

  • Flights will depart from USA to Johannesburg in South Africa and upon arrival in Johannesburg you will transfer to a domestic flight to East London (KwaGompo) where you will be met by one of our guides.

  • It is not necessary for a Visa when visiting South Africa, only a valid U.S passport is needed.

  • You passport will need to be valid for at least 6 months beyond our return travel dates with at least 2 blank pages for entry stamps.

  • Should you need any city permits and visas, we will advise you in accordance to the country you will hunt in.

  • We will provide you with all relevant documents and including instructions on how to complete the permit for your firearm.

Guest Health and Safety

  • SA is a malaria free zone so no innoculatons are necessary.

  • Malaria pills are needed for Zimbabwe, which we will suggest that you consult your doctor well in advance of your trip to take the necessary medications/precautions.

  • Should you need any innoculations, we will advise as this will depend on what country you will hunt in.

  • As a recommendation, please obtain travel insurance, medical insurance and trip cancellation insurance.

Tips and Gratuities

  • Although tipping is a choice, most hunters tip their Professional Hunters as follows - $ 150 per day minimum for a 1 x 1 hunt and $ 110.00 per day minimum for 2 x 1 hunt.

  • Trackers, are also tipped which we recommend $ 15 per day and the skinner $ 10 per day.

  • Lodge staff which include maids (daily laundry service and room cleaning etc) are also tipped at a recommended $ 20 per day.

  • Our chef is tipped $ 20 per day which will definitely be worth it

  • We suggest that you bring small bills ($5 - $10) for tracker on other ranches to help with the recovery of the animal. Suggested $ 100 in $ 10’s and $ 50 in $ 5’s.

  • SA banks will not accept any damaged bills so please ensure that the U.S bills that you bring are newer, unwrinkled and have no writing on them.

Taxidermy

  • Shipping costs will depend on the number of animals taken and what mounts are chosen and is based on crate size (cubic ft) and not weight

  • Time taken to prepare the mounts from start to finish will also depend on what animals are mounted, what mounts are chosen and the number of animals being mounted.

  • You will need to hire a USA importer to being your trophies home.

  • Dipping and packing fees will also vary due to exchange rate, number of mounts and size of mounts too.

  • Surcharges on air-fuel could also affect costs as they too are based on the exchange rate.

  • Should there be any changes once you have initially chosen the mounts etc, will will advise you in advance.

Gun Permits

  • Please download the required permit forms and we will provide you with full instructions on how to complete the forms and will be here to assist with at questions you may have to ensure that the process is a smooth one.

  • The CBP Form 4457 must be signed and stamped by U.S Customs before departure which is very important.
